Implantology is one of the specialized fields within our practice. This is very convenient, as our patients do not have to go to another practice or oral surgeon to have implants placed.
What are implants?
Implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed in the jawbone. This placement is a surgical procedure that usually takes place under anesthesia. An implant looks like a screw and is made of titanium or zirconium. A crown, bridge, or click-in denture can be placed on the implant. Implants are placed when several teeth are missing in the mouth.

De behandeling
Before the implants can be placed, the implantologist performs a thorough dental examination. Your condition will be discussed in detail, ranging from your general health and medication use to your dental history and your wishes regarding your teeth. The mouth is also examined, and X-rays are taken to assess the bone quality and height. In some cases, an impression of the jaw is taken to create a plaster model. This plaster model is needed to make a drilling model. This allows the implantologist to determine the position of the implants.
After this preliminary process, three new appointments are made. During the first new appointment, you will pick up the prescription at the practice. The second appointment consists of the treatment, in which the implant is placed under local anesthesia. You may not wear your prosthesis during the first week after the treatment. During the third and final appointment, the sutures are removed and the healing is checked. If necessary, the prosthesis will also be adjusted. The recovery period that follows can vary from six weeks to six months, depending on the procedure.

We advise you to come for a check-up with your implants every year.
Wat kost een implantaat?
The placement of implants and any crown/bridge/click-in denture is usually not included in the basic coverage, but is (partially) reimbursed by the supplementary dental insurance.
The costs depend on the extent of the treatment. You can ask our implantologist about the treatment options and a budget. There are exceptional situations in which implantology is reimbursed from the basic insurance. If you want to claim this, the practitioner will have to submit an application to the health insurer. They will then assess whether you are eligible for reimbursement from the basic insurance.
